Non curdling, plant based cream liqueur leads the way.
The makers of Barti Rum are delighted to reveal that their delicious new plant-based product, Barti Cream Liqueur, has won seven awards at the prestigious World Drinks Awards this year (15/5/24) in the liqueur section. The awards include “Best in Country”, “Best New Launch”, and “Best Bottle Design”, alongside three “Gold” and a Silver award in both the taste and design categories. A fantastic result for the new product launched in the Autumn of last year.
Erin Thomas at Barti Rum received the news and couldn’t wait to share it with her colleagues this week, she said she was “overjoyed that the product had been recognised on a global stage!”
The Drinks Awards originally began as the Whisky Awards back in 2007. The organisation has evolved to include multiple categories and is now one of the world's most prestigious beverage awarding bodies. Their logo is recognisable to consumers in all settings, from supermarkets to esteemed department stores.
Barti Rum’s Managing Director Fran Barnikel laughs, “After what people are calling ‘The Great Cream Drought of Christmas 2023’, it’s good to have such positive news and cream available to sell this time!”
Fran refers to the tricky launch and an earlier award Barti Cream received, “Best New Product”, at the renowned Taste Wales event on October 23. “When we made the cream, we thought we would only need a small batch to take us over Christmas. The demand was phenomenal, and we simply could not keep up. We had waiting lists of shops and bars desperate to get hold of it, then we won the Taste Wales award, our cream was voted the best from over a hundred Welsh products, and the demand got even more crazy.”, she jokes, “At least we’re fully stocked this time around!”
Barti Cream is a liqueur with a difference. The texture is not unlike traditional Irish cream, but rather than dairy, the base is entirely plant-based and derived from coconut. When you taste it, you’re unlikely to taste coconut. Instead, you’re met with the same classic spices found in Barti Rum: vanilla, clove, cinnamon and sweet citrus. The arrangement of flavours behaves in a really unique way; they are quite subtle against the creamy backdrop, creating an outstanding, one-of-a-kind drink.
The Drinks Awards judges are made up of an international panel of experts, whose taste notes read; "chai and tropical notes on the palate, with a strong chai presence. A vegan-friendly option which is sweet with earthy notes and a hint of masala on the nose."
An exciting characteristic of Barti Cream is its ability to be mixed with anything, something some of its competitors aren’t able to boast, without the risk of curdling. This makes it a great summer drink as well as one for those winter nights. Barti has produced cocktail recipes such as “Peaches & Cream” and “The Cheeky Chai” which can be found on the Barti website and social media.
Barti Cream and original Barti Spiced Rum are available in lots of independent shops and bars across Wales and the wider UK, or direct from the website www.bartirum.wales Follow @bartirum.
